Funeral Mass for Sr Hildegard Ryan osb

Dear Friends,

Last night at 11.40 pm, our Sr Hildegard went home to God.

She began the long journey home about 6 weeks ago after a stroke.  Her bright personality and wit and intelligence was untouched by the effects of the stroke, but she lost most of her remaining sight and had most difficulty with speech.

On Monday we noticed a change in Hildie and realised the time now with us was coming to an end and she was dying.

Hildie was very peaceful and rarely showed distress over these last 5 days.

Last night, 4 of our sisters were with Hildegard praying and watching with her.  The end was very peaceful and so gentle after some initial restlessness earlier in the evening.  This was a great grace for Hildie and for us.

Thank you for your prayers and love for Hildegard and our community.

Requiem Mass

Burial

The funeral will be followed by a procession to the Abbey’s cemetery where the burial will then take place.
