Requiem Mass for Bill Manly

Today celebrated a special Requiem Mass with our Sister Agnes. Her brother Bill (William John Manly) passed away 30th May this year after battling cancer for four years and today is actually the burial day at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Cranbrook in Queensland. Sr Agnes is not well enough to travel the huge distance to Queensland and so our Mass was a Mass in spirit with the hearts of all who are celebrating his life today around the Table of the Lord.

Bill was seventy six years old, loved husband of Coral and father of Tanya and Nicole. He was also the much loved grandfather of their children, Litsa, Kosta and Stahr. This passing is especially sad for Sr Agnes having lost her only sister Irene in October last year. There were three children in the Manly household, Agnes (Jean), Irene and Bill. Now our sister Agnes is the last of that happy Queensland family, Bill was her much loved “little brother”.

Our chaplain Fr Paul Gurr o.carm and Sr Magdalen sang a beautiful rendition of “I know My Redeemed Lives” after Holy Communion. As usual Fr. Paul celebrated a gentle and inclusive Mass which gave verbal expression to all that Sr Agnes might well be feeling today.

We followed the Mass with our typical “cup of tea in the community room”! This gave us a chance to be with Agnes, talk and generally hear some stories. And we assured our sister:

“Agnes you are walking this road of grief on your own,
we are here with you”
Requiescat In Pace Bill.
